My American Roots

I’m proud to represent the United States as a member of Junior Team USA.

My speed skating journey started right here at the Utah Olympic Oval in Salt Lake City — the same ice where Olympians have trained and competed for decades. It truly feels like home.

I began as a figure skater who had never even tried speed skating. In January 2023, just a couple of months before the end of the 2022–23 season, I joined the “Learn to Speed Skate” program at the Oval, thanks to Derek Parra who saw my potential and encouraged me to try speed skating :). I was brand new then, a little nervous, and still figuring out how to push in a straight line :)

When the 2023–24 season started, I decided to give long track a real try. I started training with the club in July 2023 under coach Tianyu Fu's program . Only a few months later, something unexpected happened — I was approached by Olympic Gold Medalist and legend Shani Davis. That moment changed everything.

Under his coaching, things took off quickly. In January 2024 — just six months after seriously starting long track — I shocked myself by winning gold in the 500m (Junior category) and finishing 6th overall at the Junior World Qualifying Championships. By the end of 2024, I had joined the Utah Oval’s Elite Team, set multiple personal bests, hit three funding times in a single championship, qualified for the Junior World Team, and became the fastest American at the Junior World Championships in Collalbo, Italy.

U.S. Speedskating noticed my development early and has continued to support me every step of the way — with access to top training programs, world-class coaching, and facilities that only Olympians usually get to use. That belief and support from both U.S. Speedskating and the Utah Olympic Oval gave me the foundation I needed to grow this fast.

Even though I now train full-time with Team ATTAQ in the Netherlands, the Utah Olympic Oval will always be my home base. Everything started there — on that same ice, with the same people who believed in me when I was just a beginner club skater fresh out of figure skates.

I’m incredibly grateful to U.S. Speedskating and the Utah Olympic Oval for helping shape me into the athlete I am today. Their support, combined with the high-level coaching I receive in the Netherlands, allows me to chase my biggest dreams — including one day representing Team USA at the Olympic Games in Salt Lake City 2034.
